Arkansas State Representative John Morgan III was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after collapsing during a legislative session in Little Rock.

Morgan, a Republican who represents District 11, collapsed on the floor of the House of Representatives Chamber at approximately 3:30 PM CST. Witnesses reported that he appeared to suffer a seizure before losing consciousness.

Medical personnel rushed to Morgan's aid and administered CPR. He was then transported to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock for further treatment. Legislators and staff were visibly shaken by the incident.

According to a statement released by his office, Morgan is currently in stable condition and undergoing medical evaluation. The exact cause of his collapse remains under investigation.

Morgan, 58, has served in the Arkansas House of Representatives since 2011. He is a retired police officer and business owner.

"This was a very concerning incident," said House Speaker Matthew Shepherd. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Representative Morgan and his family."

Governor Asa Hutchinson tweeted that he had spoken to Morgan's wife and wished him a speedy recovery.

It is unclear when Morgan will be released from the hospital or when he will return to work. The Arkansas House of Representatives has postponed all legislative activity until further notice.
