Bears Kicker Cairo Santos Accepts Blame For 'stink' With Blocks
## Bears Kicker Cairo Santos Accepts Blame for 'Stink' with Blocks
### Own Up to 'Ridiculous' Performance
In the past two games, Santos has missed two field goals, both of which were blocked. The misses have cost the Bears potential points and contributed to their losing streak.
### Santos: 'It's on Me'
After Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Detroit Lions, Santos took ownership of the team's field goal woes.
"It's on me. I've got to do better. I need to make those kicks," said Santos. "It's ridiculous. I can't be missing those."
### Defensive Struggles a Factor
While Santos acknowledges his role in the team's struggles, he also pointed out that the defense has not been helping his cause. The Bears have allowed six blocks on field goal attempts this season, which is tied for the most in the NFL.
"It's definitely a team thing. We've got to get better protection out there," said Santos. "But at the end of the day, I've got to make those kicks."
### Bears Hoping for Improvement
With the Bears' playoff hopes fading, the team is looking for Santos to turn things around. Coach Matt Nagy expressed confidence in his kicker but also stressed the need for improvement.
"We need to get Cairo back on track," said Nagy. "He's a veteran kicker with a lot of experience. We know he can make those kicks."
Santos has been with the Bears since 2020 and has generally been a reliable performer. However, his recent struggles have raised concerns about his future with the team.
