David Montgomery Runs Wild As Lions Beat Packers 34-28

David Montgomery rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown, leading the Detroit Lions to a 34-28 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Ford Field.

Lions Control the Ground Game

Montgomery, who has now rushed for over 100 yards in three consecutive games, was the driving force behind the Lions' offensive success on Sunday. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry and consistently picked up key yards on first down and in short-yardage situations.

"David is a special player," said Lions head coach Dan Campbell. "He's so tough and physical, and he always runs hard. He's a big reason why we were able to control the game on the ground today."

Swift Adds Another Dimension to Lions Offense

In addition to Montgomery's performance, running back Jamaal Swift also contributed to the Lions' success on the ground. Swift rushed for 76 yards on 12 carries and scored a touchdown on a 10-yard run in the third quarter.

"Jamaal is a really versatile player," Campbell said. "He can run inside, he can run outside, and he's also a great receiver out of the backfield. He's a really valuable asset to our offense."

Defense Bends but Doesn't Break

The Lions' defense also played a key role in the victory, holding the Packers to just 28 points. The Packers had a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but linebacker Alex Anzalone intercepted a pass from Aaron Rodgers to seal the win.

"I'm so proud of our defense," Campbell said. "They played hard all game long and made some big plays when we needed them. We've come a long way defensively this season, and I think we're just scratching the surface of what we can be."

Outlook

With the victory, the Lions improved to 3-1 on the season. They will be back in action next week when they travel to face the New England Patriots.

The Packers, meanwhile, dropped to 2-2 on the season. They will be back in action next week when they host the Chicago Bears.
