Former Rams Assistant Thomas Brown Promoted To Bears Interim Coach
Chicago, IL - In a swift move to fill the void left by Matt Eberflus's dismissal, the Chicago Bears have appointed former Los Angeles Rams running backs coach Thomas Brown as their interim head coach. Brown, who has been a highly respected assistant in the NFL for several seasons, brings a wealth of experience and a reputation for developing young players.
Brown, 37, joined the Rams in 2021 after serving as a running backs coach for the Miami Dolphins from 2017 to 2020. During his tenure in Los Angeles, he played a pivotal role in the Rams' Super Bowl LVI victory. Under his tutelage, Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson emerged as one of the NFL's most potent running back duos.
Beyond his technical expertise, Brown is known for his leadership abilities and his ability to connect with players on a personal level. He has a track record of mentoring young players and fostering their development both on and off the field.
"We are thrilled to have Thomas on board as our interim head coach. His experience, leadership, and player development skills make him an ideal fit for the Bears at this time. We believe he can provide stability and guidance as we navigate the rest of the season and make decisions about our future."
Brown takes over a Bears team that has struggled mightily in 2022, winning only two games through eight weeks. However, he expressed optimism about the future and a desire to create a positive and winning culture in Chicago.
"I am honored and excited to lead this historic franchise. The Bears have a proud tradition, and I am committed to building on that legacy by developing our players, instilling a winning mentality, and making our fans proud."
