Mandy Moore on Her First New Album in a Decade

Ten years after her last album release, Mandy Moore is back with her seventh studio album, "In Real Life." The album, which was released on May 13th, 2023, is Moore's first since 2013's "Amanda Leigh." Moore co-wrote 10 of the album's 13 tracks, marking a significant departure from her previous work.

Her Return to Music

"This album is a reflection of where I am in my life right now," Moore said in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. "I'm a wife, a mother, and I'm still trying to figure out who I am as an artist. This album is a journey of self-discovery and finding my own voice."

Moore's new album is a mix of pop, country, and folk music. The lead single, "In Real Life," is a catchy pop anthem about embracing life's imperfections. Other highlights include the country-tinged ballad "I'll Always Be There" and the folk-inspired "When You're Gone."

Collaborations and Inspiration

Moore worked with a number of talented songwriters and producers on "In Real Life," including Mike Elizondo, Dan Wilson, and Taylor Goldsmith. She also drew inspiration from her personal life, particularly her marriage to Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith.

"Taylor is my muse," Moore said. "He's always been so supportive of my music, and he's helped me to find my own voice as an artist."

Positive Feedback

"In Real Life" has received positive reviews from critics, with many praising Moore's songwriting and vocal performance. The album debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, and the lead single "In Real Life" has been played over 10 million times on Spotify.

Moore is currently on tour in support of "In Real Life." The tour kicked off on May 20th, 2023, and will wrap up on August 12th, 2023.
