MSU basketball listed as double-digit favorite vs.…

MSU struggled from the field throughout the game, shooting just 37.3% (25-of-67) and 23.8% (5-of-21) from three-point range. The Spartans also had issues at the free-throw line, converting only 14-of-22 (63.6%).

"We just didn't shoot the ball well enough tonight," said Spartans head coach Tom Izzo. "We had some good looks, but we couldn't knock them down."

The Tigers outrebounded MSU 43-33, including a 17-9 advantage on the offensive glass. Memphis forward DeAndre Williams led the way with 12 rebounds, while guard Kendric Davis added 10 boards.

"They just outplayed us on the boards," said Izzo. "We need to get tougher and find a way to compete better in that area."

The Spartans will wrap up their Maui Invitational campaign on Tuesday, November 22nd, against Chaminade. MSU is now 1-2 in the tournament and will look to finish above .500 before returning home.

"We have to learn from this experience and come back stronger," said Izzo. "We're not where we want to be right now, but we have a chance to improve and make a run in the rest of the season."
