Sean Couturier's OT Goal Lifts Philadelphia Flyers To Win Over Predators
Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier scored a power-play goal 2:45 into overtime to give the Flyers a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night at Bridgestone Arena.
Couturier's Heroics
Couturier's goal came after the Flyers had killed off a 4-on-3 power play for the Predators. The Flyers then went on the power play themselves and Couturier made them pay, taking a pass from Claude Giroux and firing a shot past Predators goalie Juuse Saros.
"It was a great play by G [Giroux]," Couturier said. "He found me in the slot and I was able to get a good shot off. It's a big win for us."
Hart's Strong Performance
Flyers goalie Carter Hart made 34 saves in the win, including several key stops in the third period and overtime. Hart has now won three of his last four starts.
"He was outstanding," Flyers coach Alain Vigneault said. "He made some big saves for us tonight, especially in overtime. He's a big reason why we won this game."
Flyers Win Streak
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Flyers, who are now 5-3-2 in their last 10 games. The Flyers are now in fifth place in the Metropolitan Division, three points behind the fourth-place New York Rangers.
Upcoming Games
The Flyers will return to action on Saturday night when they host the New York Islanders at Wells Fargo Center. The Flyers will then travel to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins on Monday night.
