Without Jordan Love, Josh Jacobs Took Charge for Packers
Green Bay, Wis. - In the absence of starting quarterback Jordan Love, running back Josh Jacobs stepped up to lead the Green Bay Packers to a hard-fought victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Jacobs Dominates Ground Game
Jacobs rushed for a career-high 192 yards on 26 carries, including a crucial 57-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that put the Packers ahead for good. His performance marked the first time a Packers running back has rushed for over 150 yards since Aaron Jones in 2019.
Passing Game Struggles
With Love out with a shoulder injury, backup quarterback Kurt Benkert struggled to establish a rhythm in the passing game. Benkert completed only 11 of 23 passes for 122 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.
Defense Shines
Despite the offensive struggles, the Packers' defense played lights out. They held the Vikings to just 17 points and forced three turnovers, including two interceptions by safety Darnell Savage.
Quotes
Josh Jacobs, Packers running back: "I just wanted to take the pressure off Kurt and the passing game. I knew the Vikings had a tough front seven, but I was determined to get us yards and keep the chains moving."
Matt LaFleur, Packers head coach: "Josh Jacobs had an incredible game today. He's a workhorse and a leader on this offense. He really saved our bacon out there."
Looking Ahead
The Packers will now face the Detroit Lions in Week 3, while the Vikings will take on the Philadelphia Eagles. If Love remains out, Jacobs will likely continue to be a key part of the Packers' offensive game plan.
